The Noble County Senior Citizens Program has been on the receiving end of an influx of new
furniture, games, and other items thanks to the efforts of the Noble County Department of Job
and Family Services. Misty Wells, Executive Director, reported this activity to the Noble County
Commissioners recently.
“We were able to purchase and deliver a new couch to the center. We purchased it at Murphy
Furniture,” Wells told the Commissioners. “We also bought two lift chairs for the senior center at
Murphy’s but they haven’t been delivered yet.”
The Noble County DJFS has also purchased a bingo setup, games, puzzles, and a ping pong
table. Later this summer, the Department will sponsor trips to The Wilds and the Ohio State Fair.
Wells also reported of the recent Hooked on Fishing Day held on Father’s Day at Caldwell Lake
declaring its huge success. “We were overwhelmed at the size of the crowd who attended,”
Wells reported. “Everyone had a wonderful time, and we intend to make it a yearly event.”
In other business, the Commissioners held a zoom call with. Senator Sherrod Brown. Brown
and Senator J. D. Vance had formally requested an emergency declaration from President
Biden for Belmont, Monroe, Jefferson, Guernsey, Noble, Washington, Morgan and Méigs
Counties seeking federal dollars to finance repairs from area storms last April. The
Commissioners offered their input into what was needed in Noble County.
