Dawn Schultheis, Community Development Program Coordinator for Noble County Extension, met with the Commissioners recently to discuss uses for the $150,000 in Community Development Block Grant money available for Noble County this year.

The Commissioners and Schultheis chose Monday, February 26, at 3:00 p. m. as the date and time for a public hearing on the matter. Political subdivisions are encouraged to attend this meeting and submit projects for consideration.

Among the projects being considered are playground equipment for the park in Batesville, a new roof for the Belle Valley Fire House, and improvements to the old Byzantine Church high atop Belle Valley.

“We are also seeking funding options for resurfacing the tennis courts and basketball court at the Noble County Fairgrounds,” stated Commissioner Tyler Moore. “Our plan is to add two pickle ball courts at the tennis courts.”

Todd Coss, Noble County Engineer, reminded the Commissioners bids will be opened Monday, February 12 for the resurfacing project at the swimming pool parking lot at the Noble County Fairgrounds. The addition of handicap spaces is part of the project. “We hope to begin the project at the end of March or first of April,” Coss stated. “We want to have it completed by the end of August.

Dr. Rick Tsai, candidate for Congress in the sixth district, paid a visit to the Commissioners. Tsai, a Republican, is a chiropractor from East Palestine, Ohio.
