Two candidates for Congress in the Ohio 6th District paid a visit to the Noble County Commissioners last week. Reggie Stoltzfus visited the courthouse on Monday, March 4, while Michael Rulli was in town on Wednesday, March 6. Both are seeking the seat being vacated by Bill Johnson, who is retiring to move into the position of President of Youngstown State University. “We welcome the visits of these candidates for Congress because we had an excellent working relationship with Bill Johnson and it was very beneficial to the county,” stated Commissioner Gary Saling. “We want that to continue with the new congressman whoever that turns out to be.”

Reggie Stoltzfus is a Stark County native where he and his wife run a farm and a manufacturing business. He is also the State Representative in his district where he has served since 2018. He and his wife Jeannette have four children and live on their farm near Minerva.

Michael Rulli is serving his second term as State Senator in the 3rd District which includes Mahoning, Carrol, and Columbiana counties. Rulli serves as chairman of the government committee in the Senate. A native of Poland, Ohio, Rulli graduated from Poland Seminary High School and Emerson College in Boston. Prior to entering politics, Rulli worked in his family’s business, the Rulli Brothers Grocery chain. He served on the school board in Poland and is the president of the William McKinley Presidential Library.
