Shawn Ray, Shari Rayner, and Kirby Moore met with the Noble County Commissioners recently to present them with an overview of the activities of the Noble County Health Department in 2023. They also reported on upcoming construction at their facility. Ray told the Commissioners Grae-Con Construction of Marietta was the low bidder on the construction project and was awarded the contract. Among the improvements will be the addition of a two-vehicle parking area in front of the health department building that will have a portico to shelter visitors seeking treatment such as vaccines. Other additions will include two new wide automatic front doors, a new lighted flagpole, replacement of the back porch, and a new sign at the front of the property. In the department’s year in review, Rayner reported there were 169 new participants in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. They had 280 patients and 324 visits to the Reproductive Health and Wellness Program. A total of 954 private vaccines were given with a total vaccine cost of $117,602. 48 Children with Medical Handicaps were served. In terms of jail medical services, 245 inmate physicals were completed. A total of 487 inmate requests for medical attention were answered. 259 medical requests needed a nurse visit. Among the many services offered at the Noble County Health Department are allergy shots, birth control, lab services, physicals, pregnancy testing, early Head Start, sewage treatment systems program, mobile home park inspections, and school inspections.
